Stirring Up the Holy Spirit

Jun 8, 2025    Pastor Mark Browning

On this Pentecost Sunday, we look at what truly sets God’s people apart — His presence. When Moses spoke with the Lord, he made it clear that he didn’t want to move forward unless God’s presence went with them. That same cry should live in us today. The Holy Spirit is not just a bonus or a symbol — He is the very evidence that we belong to God.

The Spirit is a gift — not something we achieve, work for, or earn. Jesus told His followers that the Father delights in giving the Holy Spirit to those who ask, and that He would send a Helper, the Spirit, to be with us and dwell within us. God hasn’t left us to figure things out on our own — He’s made His presence available to every believer.

We’re reminded that the gift of the Spirit is meant to be stirred up — activated and awakened in our lives. Just as Paul urged Timothy to fan into flame the gift of God imparted through the laying on of hands, we too are called to walk in what we’ve received with boldness and faith.

This message is an invitation to return to a place of hunger; to live aware that His presence in us marks us, sets us apart, and shows the world Who we belong to and the invitation still stands: there is always more. More of His presence. More of His power. More of His Spirit poured out on those who ask.
